Mrs Johnston was in again today and we got our world book day vouchers. We are looking forward to having the P7 class from Downpatrick Primary School coming to read stories to us. As it has been such an upside down week we played inside and outside after lunch rather than dancing!
We had a small class today with lots of fire fighter fun. Mrs Johnston was our teacher as Mrs Burns and Mrs Rutledge had gone to the 20th anniversary celebration for Eco Schools. (See the Eco blog!)
We are learning about the people who help us and we have started with the fire fighters. We have a big fire engine "car" that can carry 2 passengers. We need to do strong pedalling to give lifts to our friends.
We all enjoyed learning about how to care for different pets. We ALL touched the different creatures that came to visit. Some of us held them in our hands. We asked interesting questions and made clever comments. The Zoolab lady was very impressed with us!!! We had a nice normal day after our very busy week. We did our own contemporary dance after lunch with newspapers and chairs. We all tried to remember what the dance teacher had shown us and made a dance out of our favourite bits.
We had a taster session with Jo Jingles after lunch. We did lots of different songs and activities from around the world.
We walked to the Down Arts Centre today to see a contemporary Dance performance. It was really good and very different. We then stayed on to do a dance workshop where we used some of the same props and learnt parts of the dances which we performed to the same music. Our school camera battery died so we unfortunately didn't take any pictures but all the children could describe their favourite part of the dance.
We had our individual photographs taken today. We were all very happy and smiley and our photos are GORGEOUS!
Kung Hei Fat Choi! We all wore our lucky red clothes to school. We practiced using chopsticks by eating little crisps. We enjoyed cheerios for our snack. We played with red toys and had red water in the tray. We listened to Chinese music and practiced our dragon dance. We met Kim who came from visiting her grandparents in Hong Kong. She was our guest of honour at our special meal. We ate prawn crackers with our chopsticks and then all tasted vegetable stir fry with noodles for our lunch snack. After lunch we all had a turn to take part in our parade as musicians, jugglers, flag wavers and dragon dances. At home time we got a red envelope of lucky money and a fortune cookie. There are photos of our special day in the archive.
We finished our clever hand sewn heart cards today. After lunch we took turns to dress in the wedding clothes and did "proper" dancing. We did the waltz, Cha cha, Tango and Quick step!!!
