We decorated our easter baskets today. We also played in the sun again. We enjoyed football and used the snooker balls in the ball and water run. We planted the last of the carrot seeds and have all now picked a radish too. We played outside again after lunch in the lovely weather. We had to do a lot of watering of all the pot plants too.
We had a very interesting day today with Miss Corkin as our National Trust Volunteer visitor for the morning. We saw photos of what the grounds look like and heard how the big house has different sides. Straight lines and windows on one side and curved lines and arches on the other. We met Bella who lives at Castle Ward. She wants some flowers in the farmyard so we made "magic" flowers for her. (See them in the main hallway above the noticeboards) Bella said they were lovely but she wants REAL flowers. We then heard a story about what a seed needs to grow. We all acted out the story in pairs, taking turns to be seeds and gardeners. Lastly we went outside to play two fun games. One with garden implement pictures and the other about deciding what was "good" and "bad" for plants. (eg: water, weeds, ladybirds, stones etc) We had lots of opportunity to be active and thanked Miss Corkin for a lovely day. After all we had learnt, we were left with some real seeds to grow and we will take the plants to Castle Ward in the Summer to plant them in the tubs in the farmyard for Bella.
Mrs Lecky was our teacher today. We baked sultana buns with Mrs McAllister. We had a party for Luke's birthday with yummy chocolate cake. We spent a lot of time outside again enjoying the sandpit, climbing apparatus, ride on toys and "picnics". We are loving the new story we have heard about a very naughty bunny called "Little Bunny Foo Foo"! We all enjoyed watching a short DVD
We celebrated the sunshine by spending a lot of time outside today. We drew pictures of ourselves for a goodbye card for Ciara (Temporary Speech Therapist Assistant). We got LOTS of toys out outside for climbing, balancing, tunnelling, picnicing. We still enjoyed the Firefighter game too. We did more gardening too (see Eco news)
We all dressed in red for Sport Relief today. We made red collage pictures. We played football again in "proper" teams with a student referee! After lunch we had our very own Sport Relief games - Yay!! We did red balloon jumping races, red beanbag balancing races, red hoop obstacle races, egg and spoon races and running races. We all cheered and chanted for our friends. It was GREAT fun. (
We enjoyed a game of football in the side garden. We heard a story about Zainab who lives in Sierra Leone. She has to walk a long way to get water. It sometimes makes her ill and she misses school as she has to get pills to make her better. We will send our Sport Relief money to help her get a well in her village to get clean water so she won't get ill and miss school any more.
We played in our exciting fire station inside and outside today. We did some excellent clever dinosaur paintings. We took turns on the tricky balance bikes. We had to wear helmets to keep safe.
We had a visitor (see eco news). We are all learning not to drop litter. We will take the message home too.
We had a very busy day getting all our gifts ready for our Mummies. We enjoyed playing in our very own fire station again today. Miss McDowell helped us and we had lots of emergencies.
We made special "lollipop" biscuits today. We also played new games with the students. We heard about Eric Eight the snowman and we did some more counting for our Eco school review. We looked at our pictogram to see and count how everyone got to school.
