We had another lovely long outside play today. We tried out pouring water in our ball and water run. We had new clever diggers in the sandpit. We had a birthday picnic outside. Our caterpillars emerged from their cocoons over the weekend so we released them into the wildflower garden, they went flying off happily. We had a visitor after lunch. Abigail's mummy, Jenny is a Dentist and came to tell us how and when to brush our teeth. She also showed us pictures of healthy snacks (and treats to have after dinner, never as snacks). Jenny showed us her gloves, mask and glasses she wears when checking our teeth.
We are enjoying lots of number games and are all getting very good at recognising numerals too. We have a "naughty number fairy" who visits our school and muddles up the numbers trying to trick us, she hopes we might not notice! We also have new linking cubes that are fun for building, counting, caterpillar making and pattern making. We played outside a lot again today. Mrs McAllister brought her lamb "Chopsy" into school again and she ran around too. We had a visit from some new friends from the Knockevin Special School Nursery today. They had a lovely time and we were very kind and friendly to them.
We had a beautiful day for our trip today. We did lots of good listening running games. We sang around a huge old Cedar tree. We hid behind trees in the Lime Tree Walk. We looked for different coloured wild flowers. We went to Temple Water and tried to find Lady Anne! We found LOTS of mini beasts at the end of the lake. We had running races back to the barn for a picnic under the trees. Thank you again to Miss Corkin for teaching us so much and allowing us to explore lovely Castle Ward with her. (See the new photos in the gallery.)
We are making the most of the lovely weather. We played outside with lots of different summer activities and challenges. We had TWO birthdays in school today. We are painting and making mini beasts.
We made mini beasts out of clay and art materials and even out of biscuits with yummy decorations. We watched a DVD of the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
We have all made an instrument out of recycled materials. Today we had a big band music session where we all made music together. Yesterday we tried out some of the instruments that had been made. We did rainbow writing today for King One "Top to toe and there you go". It is easy to write number 1. We heard the story of how Thieving Three changed his name to "Thank you three".
We went to the Amenity Centre at Castlewellan. Rebecca from Down District Council told us all about recycling. We put all our rubbish from home and school into the right bins. See the display in the entrance hall and the photos in the gallery.
We made the most of the lovely day with lots of things to do outside. We are enjoying climbing the rope ladder. We had fun finding treasures in the sand.
The judge came to visit our school today. A group of us showed him all the things we have done to make our school the best kept one. We were all very enthusiastic and informative. He enjoyed his visit. He had to take away the trophy but we do hope we might
We all enjoyed our long weekend. We had our bus outing to the scrapyard today. It was very interesting and we saw lots of different machines helping to recycle cans, aliminium, electrical wires and batteries. We also saw the big grabber lifting cars into the crusher. We looked at a s
