We launched our main charity appeal of the year this week. We had a yellow day with yellow snack and yellow toys. We decorated our daffodil pots and took home our donation envelopes all in aid of Marie Curie cancer care.
We were out from 9.15 to try to observe the eclipse. We had pin hole cameras ready but it was too cloudy. We did notice the sparrows all getting quiet and the pigeons going to roost on the roof top. It got VERY dark. We were very busy in the gardens all the rest of the day. We cleared weeds in the vegetable garden and planted pea seeds and baby onion sets. There was a lot of hard digging work in the newly named digging pit!! We will move some of the soil onto the hill to try to grow more grass over our muddy hill.
Our thanks go to Jessica's daddy for inviting us to visit him at work. He kindly brought a DOUBLE DECKER bus to collect us from school. We drove up to the cathedral to see St.Patrick's grave then down to the bus station. Greg took us on a tour of the station. We were very interested in the garages and saw a bus up on jacks and Jessica's dad went into the inspection pit.
We all enjoyed going on a small bus through the giant bus wash. We were pleased to hear that they reuse the bus washing water. What an interesting outing. You can see all the photos in the archive. We had a lovely home made cake for Austen's birthday snack. We were also very busy in the garden weeding the planters and planting pansies.
We enjoyed our green day in school. We played with green toys and dough. We had a green snack. Outside we took turns to hide and seek the green Irish teddy bear!! Mini was with us again for a special spring and Easter session. We really enjoyed the picnic with the Easter bunny coming to look for carrots! We had a fun day playing with all the red toys and eating our special red nose snack. After playing outside we watched the "Animal Boogie" on the big screen to do our warm up dance. We read "Giraffes can't dance" and then tried out some of those dances with our animal toys and puppets for our ORANGUTANGO!!! We had all been looking forward to the visit of the police officers to school. Police Officers Caroline and Phil came to talk to us about keeping safe. They showed us some of their equipment. We tried on the hand cuffs and the hats. We went up to the car park to see the police car. We enjoyed the flashing lights and the sirens were VERY loud. We could even get INTO the car. After lunch we drew pictures of the police officers. You can see some of the photographs and drawings in the hallway displays. Most of the children have contributed something to our People Who Help Us display now. We started work on our surprises for our mums today....Sssssh don't tell.....we want it to be a big SURPRISE!!!
We had a great fun show again today. We were joined by P1 and C1 from Downpatrick Primary School. We heard the story of the ugly duckling who had a VERY funny quack!!! We helped to act out the story of the 3 little pigs and that big bad wolf. Last of all was the scary story of Jack and the beansatlk. The giant had VERY big hands to take all the treasures and a VERY big head to peep out at us but Jack saved the day. It was very exciting and we were all very good at looking and listening.
