Everyone loves climbing in nursery school so Mrs Rutledge has given us a place to climb inside now too. We also enjoy the hidey holes in the bottom of our "fort". We enjoyed listening to the scarecrow story again on CD today with the scarecrow and his animal friends acting out the story for us. We were very good at remembering the story from last time.
We had our yellow day today to celebrate Mini Pots of Care Day and begin our fundraising appeal for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We all tasted the yellow lemon jelly and ice cream we made yesterday. We had a lovely story about a scarecrow with a yellow hat from Geraldine (with a scarecrow toy and toy animals to act out the story too.) We decorated our daffodil pot and made egg box daffodils. We played with yellow toys and had a fun yellow day.
We all wanted to have a turn in the new "holding cell" in the police station today. The police men and women were kept very busy writing up all the notes on all the prisoners and taking their fingerprints!! Instead of story today we had a visit from the Community Police Officers who came to tell us what the police do to help us. Now we will have some more ideas for our play police station.
We are starting our new topic thinking about the police. We have to keep our police station tidy by putting away the equipment in the right drawers. We were all very happy to be back after our holiday. It was such a lovely morning that we got stuck into some jobs in the garden. We helped to load wheelbarrows with soil to take to the big planter on the steps. We also planted pretty flowers in the window boxes on the fences. We had a vote at lunch time and decided to go back outside instead of rhyme time today!
We finished our love gifts for Friday and had love stories and learnt our love song today. We had a very busy and happy play time as we had extra students in for work experience. Some of them helped us with exciting bubble print pictures. We were especially calm and happy today as Mrs McAllister set up the aromatherapy diffuser with a calming lavender scent! After lunch we could choose to go out or stay in as it was a bit cold. We enjoyed seeing our chinese new year pictures on the big screen.
We all worked really hard today making a "special surprise" for Friday. We plan to share the love and we just know that the ones we love will be SOOO proud of us when they see our brilliant work! It was a miserable day so we did not go out in the morning. We really enjoyed climbing and jumping in the hallway with Mrs Rutledge instead. Geraldine read us a fun story today and we had a chance to act it out with puppets too. We were all very good for our visitor. (Geraldine is supporting us as part of the Pre-School Capacity building Project) After lunch we had a quick run around outside and then watched Aunty Mabel and Pippin on TV.
We had a marvellous lucky red day today! We did red printing pictures and played in the red water. We had great fun with the "popcorn" white foam pieces instead of sand today. We played the dragon threading game with Mrs Ross. We had a party for snack at the long table. We ate prawn crackers for starters (with our chopsticks!) and then we tasted yummy stir fried noodles and carrots. Some of us even tried real chinese "Lee Kum Kee" sauce on our noodles! We listened to chinese music while we ate and we sang "Kung Hei Fat Choi" while Mrs McAllister cooked up ANOTHER batch of noodles. YUM! After lunch we had a dragon parade for Kim. She sat on the table and the dragon danced right around her while the band played and the crowd waved their flags. It was such fun and we all had a turn to do everything. At home time we said "Kung Hei Fat Choi" to Mrs Burns and she gave us a lucky red envelope with some lucky money inside. The photographs will soon be in the Photo Archive under "Special Events" or you can see them on the big screen in the hallway.
We had a very busy morning as Mini and Elaine came to visit again, but first we had to have a quick birthday snack for Mrs Rutledge. Mini sang songs about the people who help us. You can see photos in the archive. After lunch we did the Jolly phonics sound "rrrrrr" and found 3 girls in the class with the second name of Rose! We then played inside and practiced our Dragon dance in the hallway in small groups. We are getting very excited about our Chinese New Year party tomorrow.
We had our individual photographs taken today with Beverley the photographer. The staff thought all the photos were BEAUTIFUL! Orders and money to be handed in at school by Friday 14th March please
We moved some of our "loose parts" resources into the new storage bays today. We were also then inspired to use them so the children built an aeroplane and a train. We heard about Freddie Four today too.
