We made penguins with our student, Miss Davey today. We had another lovely playtime outside in the mild weather. We enjoyed an interesting DVD about birds after lunch.
We made sweet penguins today by choosing the right sized black and white oval shapes. We had to follow instructions to stick them together. Photos will be in our new "Art Gallery" section here soon. Some children asked to make flags today to wave on sticks. All enjoyed playing with the small world snowy
Today some children started making flowers with the Interstar construction toys. The game grew as more children joined in with fresh ideas. Soon we had a full wedding party including bride and groom, groomsmen, pageboys, bridesmaids, flower girls, a minister and congregation. The boys all wore buttonholes! The party moved to the house for a wedding feast later. It was a wonderful, happy day. A few of the happy "couples" who played along today were: Robert & Georgia, Rhys & Aine, Jacob & Eunice. CONGRATULATIONS!
We will follow up the children's obvious interest with a wedding topic over Valentine's day! (Please see the Gallery for some recent photos of some of the play We are all paying more attention to the birds feeding at the playroom window. We are starting to recognise: sparrows, blue tits, coal tits, doves, pigeons, blackbirds and magpies.
We made birds out of playform today and enjoyed constructing with Interstar interlocking pieces. Our Home corner is still very busy with families getting ready for bed. We had to turn out the lights and We made some icing for our snowman cake and then we decorated it. We all had snack together to enjoy tasting our special cake. Aileen the Speech Therapist brought a friend called Ciara to school today. Some of us got to play some games with them.
"Snowy" floury hands for our snowman cake. We baked "Beat 'n bake" cakes today. We will ice them tomorrow to make a snowman for our snack. We also tried to cook a special treat for the gerbils today. It was a mini corn cob to make them some pets popcorn! (Please excuse the srange burnt smells from the kitchen - blame Mrs Burns!!!) We finished our snowman art then had a lovely long play outside as it was such a nice day. We enjoyed playing in the sand after our brand new sandpit covers were removed. The ice cube "icebergs" didn't last long in the water tray today.
We were all very happy to be back at school. We had lots of new toys and activities. We really enjoyed the home corner where we could have our tea then bath and get ready for bed. Some "mummies" and "daddies" even read bed time stories. Some "daddies" were very particular about their shaving routine! We also enjoyed playing at the Space Station.
