We all wore green for our celebrations today. We finished sewing our shamrocks and enjoyed playing outside. We had a leprechaun puppet story and took turns to act it out. We did some Irish dancing after lunch on our magical glittery green dance floor!
Freya's mum, Jenny came to tell us about the work of the dentist who helps us to look after our teeth. We heard about foods with sugar in them that we should have for a treat once a week after our dinner. We also heard about foods that have sugar hiding in them - we should have them for dessert and not a snack. For snacks we should have milk/water fresh fruit, bread, toast, crackers, breadsticks. Flavoured yoghurt should be for dessert.
We were excited to see that the little house has moved back into the woods and the bigger house has moved under the tree. We helped to sweep and scrub the Tarmac where the house was before. We are still very busy moving soil from the playground to the planter on the steps. Thanks to the energetic children for all their enthusiastic help!
We had a surprise today and did something different after lunch. Geraldine is coming to us on Tuesday and
Wednesday now. We had 3 groups doing different "jobs" after lunch. Geraldine had Linda the ladybird and we took turns to tell Linda what had made us happy and sad at school today. Mrs Rutledge did the Music box game with instruments. Mrs McAllister did rhyme time with passing the bag. We all had a turn to do all 3 jobs on Wednesday and Thursday. We enjoyed working in a small group as we could all have a turn. We had a fun Friday with a visit at story time from 10 big P7 children from Downpatrick Primary School. They read us stories with toys and masks to make the stories more exciting. We were all really good and heard 5 different stories. We answered the questions and listened carefully. Thank you to our big friends across the road.
We wore our pyjamas to school for world book day. We had 5 different books for story today!! We talked about how important books are and that we should look after them.
We made pancakes today with Mrs McAllister and we ate them for our snack - YUM! We had big thick ones and rolled up thin ones. We heard the story of the enormous pancake and some of us dressed up as the pancake while the puppet animals tried to eat it. After lunch we played outside again and watched a DVD about children pretending to be police officers at school. We have some good ideas to try out ourselves tomorrow.
The children were painting pictures of who they want to be when they grow up. Please see the notice board in the hallway to discover their future occupations inspired by our "People who help us" topic.
