We have been very busy planting primroses in the window boxes on the wooden fences. You can see them at the bottom of the steps. Some of the daffodils at school are flowering now too.
We ALL tasted the Mung bean sprouts that we grew for Chinese new year! They were really yummy and SOOO healthy.
We went for a walk to the Grove today to see the snowdrops. There were so many. We also saw some litter that made us feel very sad. We decided to go back another day with our litter pickers to do a Big Spring Clean! We went to inspect all our garden areas to see all the work we need to do. We are going to do a lot of work in the wildflower garden so we took some "Before" photos there as we didn't find any flowers. We hope the "after" photos will be brighter! We started a bit of weeding in the vegetable garden but we still have lots more to do.....
We started work on our official Eco Review today to see if we have learnt some of our Eco Schools lessons. We took turns to record on our clip boards and we discussed some aspects in a circle. You can see the results of our reviews on the play room door.
We try to remember to feed the birds every day now in winter. Please try to feed your garden birds too.
This week is the "European Week for Waste Reduction" and we celebrated it by having a "Swop it" day for books. Some children brought in a used book from home and they swopped it for a "new" book to take home. We are reusing and recycling and we are certainly not wasting our lovely books.
We met "Evil Sir Standby" today and looked at his evil red eye on our big television in the hallway. We talked about how we need to try to switch off our TV's to save electricity. We sang our Eco Code and thought about "Switch off the lights" - the children were asked to remind staff to turn out the lights when nobody is in the room. |
